2004 GX 470 Creaky Steering Wheel / Noise Coming From Behind Dash
Hi, so these are two separate issues.
The first is that my steering wheel seems to be making a creaking noise when I turn it, and when the wheel is returning to neutral position. This problem seems to happen more first thing in the morning / when it's cold outside. Anyone know what the issue/fix could be?
The 2nd issue is that, at totally random times, and no patterns around what I'm doing or weather or anything that I can point to to set this off, my car will start making a noise that sounds like it's coming from behind the dash near the steering wheel and/or right driver-side A/C vent. The noise is really faint in this video, but it sounds like some type of repeating squeaking type of noise. The noise happens whether the A/C unit is on or off. I've had the blower motor replaced, and that didn't resolve the issue. If it's hard to hear in this video, I can try to get another one.
Thank you!!

My wheel does the same thing sometimes when cold. It’s a minor annoyance I can live with. Your noise behind the cash could be a HVAC vent solenoid. Try cycling the vent location settings a few times and see if it goes away. I do that whenever I hear the squeak noise and it has worked every time.

For the wheel squeak, that is really common on the same era ES. On them, it’s the firewall boot where the column passes through. Some grease fixes it.
This thread talks about it and links to a yt vid. Not sure if it’s identical but take a peak. Quite possibly the same design.
