Default 04 Gx470 Reverse Issue

For some reason when Gx470 is parked, it does not want to reverse when slipped into gear. I have to apply a some pressure on the gas pedal and than it moves with a loud thud like noise, I have noticed it when the Gx is parked for 24-36 hours.

We leave here in N-CAL and weather cant be an issue. Besides it always parked in the garage. Anybody else experience this?

So wait, once you put it into reverse, does it act like it is in neutral until you rev the engine up higher, then it violently "jerks" into gear and starts moving?

That is the classic sign that your transmission fluid is low, or there is some other issue as well. do you have any leaks?

Are you parked on a hill?

What happens if you apply the handbrake when parking? (apply handbrake, then shift into park)

Yes, thats exactly the behavior. I don't see any leaks (at least not that I can spot) and just went thru a 90K in Dec 2013. Its always parked in my garage and so I would have noticed oil drippings.

I am not parked on a hill also.

Could be just low--I would have that checked first for proper fill before going into anything else, cause its happening when its Cold, not warm correct?

Good time to have your trans fluid flushed.
