Default Empty slot next to the 2nd start button

I'm going to be adding some auxiliary lighting in the next few weeks and I'm trying to find an empty spot to mount an OEM switch. Does anyone know what the empty slot is for next to the 2nd start button?

Looks like on the Prado, it's "Power Button is to keep the gearbox longer in a gear before it changes to the next gear"

I believe some people have used this area for auxiliary light switches.

I used it for a dvd overide switch so I can run the rear dvd player on the front screen so the
passenger can watch something as well as the back seat kids. I drilled the actual empty cover and mounted my switch right in the middle of the black cover

It is a blank slot with nothing behind it. You can use it for anything you like.

You can kick that blank out from the other side of the panel if you can reach it with your hand.

I know, I already popped it out. I was just curious what the blank spot was for on other 120 models.

Just an FYI the ECT / PWR button is to the right of the 2nd start, which is blank below. After digging around I still do not know what that large slot is for? I don't see any mention of it on Prado forums. Oh well....

Some models of the GX were equipped with a curtain airbag cutoff switch which was called a RSCA and when depressed the Instrument cluster would have it illuminated RSCA OFF . And some models had a Switch for Powered Outer Mirrors ( Left or Right Adjustment )

You lost me mann777, what does that have to do w/ the empty spot? I have both of those switches in my GX.

Sorry. My apologies I did look the other side, ok that seems to be a dummy cover, Probably Lexus had something in their mind for the list of options to the customer, but then skipped it by just a dummy cover

According to a Lexus Rep I know, it was going to be for a trailer brake. However the system never came to fruition because of vendor/supplier problems.

It's the same size blank as the FF/RR locker dial on 80 series Land Cruisers, I've never seen another OEM switch that size.
