GX470 Sub Info
Just in case anyone is curious, the specs on the sub in the GX are the following:
6" driver (not 6.5)
Cone measures 4 3/8" OD
Basket measures 5 3/4" ID
Ohms = 5.5
The enclosure it sits in is a sealed (no port) and is exactly 6.5 liters or .230 cubic feet in volume.
The speaker opening is 5 3/4"
Maximum depth is 3 1/4"
Hope this helps someone ordering a re-edge kit or aftermarket replacement.

Great info! Any make/model of aftermarket subs that are direct replacements that you know of?

I'm digging. I'll post back when I find something. Some on the forum have made recommendations, but they all seem to be long gone and the replacement models have different specs, especially enclosure requirements/limitations.
I may just go with the re-edge kit, if I don't find something suitable. Could be a cheap $10 fix. This is the first woofer I've blown, so I figure if I can re-edge and get another 10 years it'll be worth it. A kick butt woofer would be nice too.

I wonder if a light duty 8" would work? Mounting depth becomes an issue very quickly.
Edit: I remembered seeing some info in this thread around the time I joined:

There's a raised "surround" where the factory 6" sub sits. You'd definitely have to cut that out and provide your own support to keep it rigid. Could work...still only working with less than .25 sqft though.

With some research I found the Kicker model others have referenced for the rear sub replacement and it's : CVT-654. It's 4ohms and 6.5" vs. 6, so some trimming will be required in a not so easy spot, but doable and the specs for volume requirement is dead on with the existing sub cavity. It's between 1.5 to 2 ohms lower than factory, so you'll have to decide for yourself if the risk is worth it. Living in the desert, I decided the extra heat would likely fry the amp, so I passed.
The speaker has been officially discontinued, but some are still available on eBay. The newer model box-volume requirements are way off, so it won't be as good a match as the CVT-654.
If you decide to re-foam the blown stock sub, the only place I could find a kit was SimplySpeakers.com. The part number is FSK-6BT-1.
The cost is $20 and fits perfectly, but the outer edge needs to be cut down to half the width, as the recessed basket prevents it from fitting. I just used a pen to mark all the way around it and a pair of scissors to trim it down. Turn out great and sounds good as new.
Hope this helps all looking for incomplete answers.

The Kicker sub works well. You have to trim the metal molding around the entire unit to make it fit (about a half inch) and you can using heavy plyer cutters. You don't want to leave any air pockets around it or it will sound to crap.
