Default Proper Brake Bleed Process

Just picked up an 04 GX 470. Is there a link to swapping rotors and pads on all four corners? I am interested in learning the proper bleeding procedure. Any help appreciated.

To bleed the lines just go to the store and pick up a one man brake bleeding kit. They make the process much less painful in my opinion.

Example: Brake bleeding kit

As for the process. You attach the kit to the bleeder screw, loosen the screw, pump the brakes 4-5 times, check the tube on the bleeder for bubbles, see bubbles in the tube, pump the brakes 4-5 more times, check, rinse and repeat till you see no bubbles. tighten the bleeder screw, remove the tubing, move on to the next corner.

Thank you. I also heard something about shims when replacing pads?? is there something in addition to the pads themselves that need to be installed into the caliper?

Shims would come in the box with the pads. It may not be necessary to install them. If you do need to they would go between the caliper piston and the pad.

They are like any other set of disc brakes. Nothing super special about them. If you have never touched brakes in your life just youtube disc brake replacement.

DOT 3 is correct.

With a one man bleeder, do you not still have to adhere to the bleeding order for that vehicle? Anyone know what that is? Anyone know where I can find a shop manual for an '04 GX? Then I can answer my own questions like this, lol.

The two times i've had to bleed brake lines with the one man kit, i did not follow any specific order. I have never seen a published "order" in which to do the lines.

You always want to start at the wheel furthest from the master and then work you way back towards it. Otherwise you could be chasing air bubbles around the truck.
