Wierd 110 volt outlet question
Currently I am driving an Ford Escape. It has both the regular power outlet as well as a 110 volt by the driver. For various reasons, I use both regularly while driving. On the GX 470, the 110 volt outlet is in the cargo area (this is inexplicably true of a number of 4wds). Does anyone have any experience of running an extension cord from the outlet to the driver's area? Wondering if that would work.

GX has 3 power outlets
1. Two at the Front Driver Side ( Cigarette Lighter and another at Pedestal ) Both are 12V.
2 The one is Cargo Area is 115V. The switch activation for this outlet is at the Driver Side earmarked as 115A ) These could be used from Camping and any Pneumatic function for your tires. This should not be used for Charging Mobile Phones.

The Cargo Area Volt of 115V is not a full time outlet option ( to my knowledge) . Both cannot be run simultaneoulsy the 12V ( DC power volt)and 115 AC outlet power. . Currently on GX you cannot used the Cargo Area power outlet while the ignition is off. After modding the 115V relay unit, you may have the power even if the vehicle is in off.
Now coming to your Question the Rear Unit a 115AC volt power should not be used to charge phones reason the outlet power used is a Invertor, You need to to drop the voltage down to the suitable cell phone charging voltage. that is the reason the mod to be done. Hope it is clear
