DIY - Rear Propeller Drive Shaft Replacement.
Recently on a long Drive, I got the Thump, Clunk, And as I looked back on the records the TSB was done for my GX on 2006 by Lexus of Greenville. And this was done with the First TSB which had come out, can remember the Number. And three TSBs have come out for the Drive Shaft Replacement. This just drives me nuts and I could'nt resist replacement on its instance. Got one and went about for the replacement. Here is the DIY which would come handy for those out of warranty, and those who would want to do by themselves. I am a grease monkey and this job took 20 minutes from the time it was on the jacks till its finished and lowered. Hope it helps.

How many miles did you get on your TSB'd driveshaft?
And, if you have a lift in your garage (which it looks like you might) count me as jealous

Thank You!
As a brand new owner of a 2004 GX470 and new member of this forum, I am very thankful for your DIY post. That 'clunking' was driving me nuts and I was initially worried it was a tranny issue. Just ordered the replacement shaft from mylsparts.com for $300 with discount CL5. Can't wait to make the switch!

It's one of the easiest things to do. The only catch is to line up the marks on the new shaft and the transfer case & differential. You'll need a torque wrench and some safety glasses (because you'll be working on your back).

Is there a paint mark?
