Help with Tow Hitch
I am looking for a little help selecting a tow hitch. I have a 2007 GX470. I was looking at buying the Lexus stock hitch but I am concerned that I would have to remove pieces of the bumper. The directions and pictures are a little unclear on this point.
Can someone post a picture of the back end of a GX470 with the stock hitch?
For those of you that have installed this after buying your vehicle, was it easy? Would anyone recommend an aftermarket brand and if so, which one?
Thanks!

There are scads of previous threads with photos of both Lexus and aftermarket hitches on GX470's -- search the GX forum for "hitch".
Here is a one good thread with photos: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...ing-equip.html
Here is a place to buy the Lexus hitch at a discount: http://www.lexuspartsmall.com/product.php?id=329
Here's a link to etrailer where I bought the hitch for my LS -- they have a big selection for the GX: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/new...te=1&p=4828700

I have installed the Lexus/Toyota hitch 3 different times on an 05, 06 and a 07 GX. If you are even slightly mechanically inclined, just follow the Lexus instructions and it is an easy job. I always did the installation by myself. If you can have an assistant help, the job would be much easier. Also you do not have to remove the rear bumper fascia.

I installed the hidden hitch brand hitch last night. Not too bad. 8 mounting points total. The bracket that is welded on for the electrical plug made no sense at all. It protuded vertically towards the rear. I just cut it off. What did everyone do with the electrical outlet since the factory bracket had to be removed? I just zip tied it for now. The cable is too short to extend all the way to the rear anyway.

If you find the right online dealer, you can get the stock hitch for about $250 and install it yourself. It's not worth it to get some 3rd party brand to save $50-100. The stock hitch includes a bracket to attach the outlet in the correct location because yes, when there is no hitch, the outlet is stowed in an out of the way position so it doesn't get in the way.

I am towing a very heavy load long distances so I wanted to make sure it was installed correctly and the nuts were torqued down properly, so I just had Lexus install mine when I picked it up.

what class hitch is that? not sure if the top plate right over the receiver will be a issue for you (depends on how low the hitch sits after install, etc). i had to trim the small oem bumber piece that sits right over the receiver after installing my HH, but i had to trim just a small amount so it would fit around the square part of the receiver (utility knife does the trick). the oem piece i have seen on gx's with oem hitch is a replacement piece that has the receiver relief molder right into the part.

The height of the class 4 is fine. I tow a boat with my GX and it's never been a problem. The tongue weight of your trailer should be adjuted anyway to compensate and the GX has a leveling suspension so the butt never drags.
