buying GX470
Hello all,
I am new to the form and I am in the market of buying a 2003-2004 GX470. Low miles. Has anybody with a 2003 add a backup camara with the stock navi unit. I know they came out in 2004. just wondering if it is possible. I might wind up with a 2004 anyways. I heard some things about the sand dollar color. should I not buy a 2003 with the sand dollar?
any input would be greatly appreciated

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the Club!
I have an '03 with the sand dollar color. I originally was out to buy the blizzard pearl but I've grown to love the sand dollar because its unique and there aren't many out there.
I haven't actually installed the backup camera to the stock navi but I've researched it enough to tell you that it's definitely possible. Probably a little too late now that you've bought the '04 but it can definitely be integrated.
Do a search on this forum...there are a couple of folks on here that had the dual exhaust done. Also, instead of K&N go with Trueflow, that's what I have on mine. Keep us posted on your mods.
Lastly...as a rule on CL all new members have to post pictures of their new ride.

They sell this adapter that allows external video inputs into the Nav unit, that way you can hook up a backup camera to display on the nav screen. They have a backup cameras on the website.

Congratulations on getting the GX 470. I'm deciding if I should get the GX or Tundra. I'll be purchasing either or this November...

I almost got an 03 sand dollar. But my credit union only gives loans to franchised dealers. THe one I saw was nice and only 33,000 miles. OH well, so I went for Blizzard pearl with 60,000 miles instead because it was at a Land Rover/Jaguar Dealership.
