Trailer Wiring Problems
I have a 2004 GX 470 with the 7 pin factory wiring harness. My boat trailer requires a 5 pin to prevent the brakes from locking up when I am backing up. I am using a 7 to 5 pin adapter. When in reverse, it appears that the fifth pin which is the back up pin is not getting power. To rule out the adapter, we ran a power tester to directly to the back up pin in the 7 pin factory plug. In reverse there was no power. We also checked the three trailer wiring fuses under the hood. Lasty, we tested left, right, brake and running lights, and they all worked as well. I just purchased the vehicle and had a trailer hitch installed, so no trailering was done on the vehicle previously. Therefore, there is no way to tell when this problem started happening. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
