Tow Prep Package - 2004
I've got a 2004 GX with the Tow Prep Package. I'd like to attach a cargo basket on the back for long trips. The dealer said all I need is to buy the light weight receiver piece (I think it is connected by 4 bolts).
Anyone know if this set up will suffice for a cargo basket as long as I keep the weight down? Anyone know the tow rating for this lightweight hitch?

I have a 2006 GX with Tow Prep Package. For my uses (swing away dog step), I don't need the 6500 lb tow package; so I spent a couple of hundred dollars at the dealer and bought the 5000 lb bracket. Easy to install and works just fine also with the small utility trailer used for those trips to Home Depot when you don't want "stuff" inside the nice clean SUV.
Yes, my dogs (Rhodesian Ridgebacks) can jump up just fine. They go just about everywhere with me and I'd like to be easy on their joints after jumping down over 10 to 15 years. Actually, it's their GX! They're just nice to me and let me drive it.

Thanks for the info. I think the 5000lb bracket will work just fine for my purposes. It also looks pretty slick as it is integrated into the bumper.
