Unhappy CD Changer problem...help?

I had a DVD entertainment system installed by a after market dealer. Bottom line is that everything works great now except that the when you push the disc button...it says CD changer componet not connected? Its going to the Lexus dealer on thursday but, was curious if anyone has a suggestion or similiar problem? Oh...and its actually connected. Thanks, M. Dillon

Default Changer

I don't think it an aftermarket changer integrates with the Lexus system. Are you sure they didn't set up via an RF modulator...meaning you have to tune your radio to 88.7 or something like that to get it to play thru the speakers? The other thing they may have done is bypassed your CD Changer to go with the DVD and expect that you'll use the DVD player to also play your CDs. These are all things that should have been discussed with you prior to an install. I would make them correct it or remove the system.

Default Hmmmm

The CD changer is factory. The DVD is after market....was installed by Dr. DashBoard. They did an excellent job and we discussed both of the items working together. There is an FM modulator but, should not effect the factory changer??? The changer is still hooked up but, to the radio from the factory but, they did remove the rear remote control from the celing when the DVD system was installed. Can that cause the problem??
Any responses are welcome...thanks for any helpor idea??
Thanks, M. Dillon

Default Part of the Problem

Matt,

part of the problem is that the CD player and DVD player are integrated using the DISC button. I have the factory RSES, and when you press the DISC button, or the MODE button on the steering wheel it will toggle between CD and DVD (MODE toggles between AM/FM1/FM2/CD/DVD), only if there is a DVD in the player, only if there is a CD mag in the changer. It sounds like they tried to hook it up and integrate it, but missed the wire that would provide feedback to the headunit that it was in fact hooked up to something. Look in the thread for DVD/Nav override, some of those guys may be able to help - I think it was Scott Lajolla who has his own shop that may be able to provide some guidance, otherwise try posting something in the electronics forum here and some of the more technical members/mods can try to help.
