Default Yet another new owner question.

This is probably a stupid question but I admit to being perplexed here. When I was driving to TN I was getting notifications about traffic and accidents ahead. I know there is NavTraffic via Sirius XM and I thought that was what I was experiencing. I found this to be valuable and would extend it after the three month free trial. Then I ran across this "vehicle information display and complimentary traffic and weather data provided via HD Radio." In the Lexus literature. My question are HD Radio and Sirius XM the same thing or do you get the traffic info fir a source other than SiriusXM? I am sure this is blatantly obvious but I am not too tech savvy and I did not have satellite radio In my last vehicle. Thanks in advance for enlightening this admittedly confused old man.

They are not the same. Sirus XM you pay for. HD you don't.

Here is an explanation of HD radio:

Remember, Google is your friend!

I hopefully pick my GX up in the next four days.

Nav traffic will go away once your trial subscription stops. It's through XM.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. I will keep it then with XM. It got me around a jam backed up 17 miles just outside of Knoxville where a semi had caught fire and another smaller one near Lexington,KY. Saved me a lot of stress and time twice in one trip.
