Hi guys,
first time here.long time member though in the GS section.
My brother got a salvage 2010 GX460 that apparently needs a new brainbox. He has located one from an accident car at a local part yard. but he does not want to buy it unless he knows it can be reprogrammed to his car. Does anyone know if this is possible? What does it entail? Does anything else need to be reprogrammed if the new brainbox works?

Assuming you mean ECU/ECM (Engine Control Unit/Module) then yes, I believe it can be done otherwise what would you do if ECU module fails? Now it might be more involving than just ECU since you also have engine immobilizer.

yea i believe the ECU is what i refer to as the brainbox. i thought brainbox was a generic term in car lingo.
anyways, will it work?

Call a Lexus dealer and ask for the shop foreman. Give him the part numbers to make sure it's going to work. I don't think he will be able to return the part if it doesn't work on his vehicle...

Not sure if the added (in 2011) brake override system would make a difference in the ECU!
