Default New Owner With GX Questions

Hi,

I picked up my GX460 from the dealer 3 weeks ago. This weekend I finally had time to play with a fe of the settings.....which raises a few questions about how things should work. I've looked in the manual and could not find references for these so I'm hoping the forum community knows the answers.

1. Power 3rd row seats - should the head rest pop up AND down automatically as the seats raise and lower? I thought they did when the sales person showed me but now they just pop down. I have to manually pull them up once the seat is raised.

2. Moving shift lever from "D" to 'manual' - no matter which gear the GX is currently in the 'manual' displays '4' as the gear selected. On highway it starts in '4'. When starting from stop it also displays '4' until I manually shift down to '1'.

3. HomeLink buttons are not illuminated at night. Is there a way to illuminate these buttons?

Its a great driving vehicle so far.

Thanks in advance.

1) 3RD row seat head rests in my GX are manual up and power down.

2) When shifting from "D" into manual the trans will always go into 4Th gear. It was the same with our IS 350 which also has the paddles on the stearing wheel. When you manually select a gear say 3RD for instance all that you are really doing is setting the highest gear you are allowing the trans to shift up into. The trans will automatically shift down up and down as needed but be limited to 3RD gear or what ever gear you've selected.

I'm not sure about the HomeLink buttons.

I hope that helps a little.

3) Don't think so.

After a while your fingers will be so used to the locations of the home link buttons that you can locate them in pitch black . Only when I drive my wife's car do I need to pause and find the buttons.

3) If you look closely there are two little LED lights that help you see the HomeLink buttons when your finger(s) is/are near the that area. Mine is the Canadian model, but the system should be the same in the US version.

Those two little LED lights belong to Safety Connect (the big SOS button): left = green, right = red.

On my CT200h, the three numbered homelink buttons illuminate, as do the other buttons on the overhead console.

I came to CL to search in hope that I could find that my GX should have the same capability as the button layout (at least for the homelink) appears identical. Not sure why it wouldn't illuminate.

What year is your GX460? My 2012 HomeLink buttons illuminate at night. Not sure if this changed over the years or if you have an issue.

I have a 2011 GX and its HomeLink buttons are not illuminated at night. So here is one more difference between 2011 and 2012 models.

I wonder if I can swap the 2010 module with a 2012 module that has the illuminated buttons. Does anybody know where I can find out ??
