Default 2011 460 Buying Experience

Searched the forums and found most posts were written in 2010 or the earlier couple of months of this year.

I am looking to buy a new 2011 Base+ right now. Would appreciate if someone could share his/her recent buying experience. Thanks!

The way times are right now you may be better off special ordering one exactly how you want it. I would not pay more then a $1000 over invoice. ALWAYS buy using the invoice price!

Does invoice include the destination charge? How about the so-called advertisement fee that runs 700-800? A dealer insisted it was part of the invoice but I told him the advertisement fee should be part of the product cost. I said I never saw Apple called out a advertisement fee on their iPad invoice :-).

Sales tax (%) and destination charges ($875) are additional, advertising should be included in the invoice price.

When I am buying a Toyota or Lexus I track three values. "Invoice", like you can find in KBB or Edmunds, or many other cars websites; "Dealer invoice", which is the Invoice noted from those websites plus the TDA (advertising cost); and the "Cost to Dealer", which is the Dealer invoice minus the two holdback items (holdback [2% of msrp excluding deiivery], and wfr [1% of msrp excluding delivery]) I found across the board that the advertising component was $750 here in NJ (it can vary by region.)

Ask the dealer for a "Vehicle Inquiry Report." It lists all the information about the vehicle as well as the "Dealer Invoice" and you can verify the TDA for yourself. RX's, as example, have a 600-700 TDA.

Best of luck on your purchase.

Joe

OK, folks. I finally got my new car yesterday. It's a 460 Base with the typical packages (nav, comfort, convenience, etc.), and the MSRP is aobut 595K. I offered $536 above invoice. Then after the 1K Lexus loyalty incentive, it came $474 under invoice. No trade-in.

BTW, I calculated the "invoice price" using Edmunds, by adding up the component prices and the destination charge.
