Truck turned off while driving
Hi, my 04 GX 470 has been great. But, it recently turned off while I was driving. I quickly stopped safely and turned off the road. I then was able to start it right back up, but it was slow to start. It then turned off again wishing a minuite. I tuned off the ac and turned it back on. It was fine after that. What do you guys think is wrong?
I am now afraid to drive it. Any suggestions would be great. I haven't checked the battery yet or alternator. But my assumption is that it's something more serious since it does start up. And if it was battery, after it shout off, it would not have started right away.
any suggestions will help and equip me before seeing a mechanic.
thanks!

I think this is the sigh of bad alternator. Bc it happened like what you described to me when i had my 2000 ES 3000. Take your truck to Autozone to get battery and alternator checked before doing anything . Keep us updated !

sounds like the alternator contacts/brushes are down to a nub. Just get a set of them for $15 and replace them. I have been doing this with alternators and starters for years.

Check the battery & charging system for sure.
But something else to check is the condition of the ignition switch. If you have a lot of stuff on your keychain, the weight can wear the internal parts of the switch and it can loose contact while you drive, shutting everything off.
