Aux audio interface
I'm trying to set up a means to plug in an iPhone for music. 2005 GX 470 has M.L. Audio and rear entertainment with DVD and CD changer. I found this "MP 3 interface unit" on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Lexus-ES-IS-GS-GX-LS-LX-RX-3-5mm-AUX-SD-USB-CD-Changer-MP3-Interface-Adapter-/371842384058?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
The description states that plugs into the CD changer port one back of the head unit, but it does not appear to "piggyback," allowing continued use of the CD changer, which is not a big deal (but why screw up factory function if you don't have to). Anybody used one of these or something like it? I'm very interested to hear if this is a good solution or if there's a better way to go. Thanks!

When I bought mine there is a cable that is in the glove box I knew it was a input for something. Then I looked on the Lexus maint. history, the dealership invoice said-install cable for I-pod. So there is a input on the back of our systems. Yes, I have ML/rear entertainment. Im sure if you search or maybe someone else will chime in.

The SoundLinq SL3B-L is much better. It connects wirelessly to your device, and as a bonus it automatically dismisses the "I agree" screen on navigation. I installed mine back in May and it works great.
Like you, I have the ML system with rear entertainment. The SoundLinq connects as an add-on minidisc changer, rather than replacing the CD changer. So everything else still works.
They make a couple of other models that work with our GX's as well, so you might want to check the full list before deciding which one is best for your needs:

There is also the Grom. Don't know which is better as I have not personally tried either but Vaistech is 20 minutes away from me so I was thinking of stopping by there this week actually!

I have a 2009, so the handsfree phone is already built-in and works very well. I also have the ML system. I bought the Vaistech unit for streaming bluetooth audio. Not super cheap like the Chinese junk in the eBy link, but works really well. Sound quality is great. I find that it integrates with Android very well.

FWIW, I installed a GROM on my GX, and it had a piggyback wire harness and it said the CD changer could still be used with the Aux, but for whatever reason, that wasn't the case.
I could never get the thing to work until I unplugged the CD changer, than it worked. Not a big deal as I rarely use CDs, but still annoying. I would recommend against the GROM, I had other issues as well and it's overpriced.
If I could have done it all over again, I would have probably done something inexpensive. I also know people with the VAIS units seem to have a lot of issues also, and those are really pricey for what it is.
