Keys please
This is probably the umpteenth time the subject has been raised on this forum. I'm looking for replacement plastic for the keys - the ones that hold the electronic thingamajigger with the push-buttons and the actual metal key part that starts the truck. The plastic has deteriorated a lot and is in danger of disintegrating soon.
I've seen ads on ebay for replacements of all types including the folding key type which is cool. I don't really see the need to replace the metal part since it appears to be fine and also appears to be screwed onto the plastic shell. It looks like I might only need to replace the plastic shell and just screw on the metal key shaft and pop in the electronic part.
If there is anyone left on this forum from days gone by who have some experience to share about this topic - I'd be grateful as would anyone else looking for the same.

I have the Eternity Key. It's super strong.

All you do is transfer over the electronics module from inside your old key, and get the blade cut by a locksmith.

Yes, I do have that option and use it from time to time. These days, though, the dollar isn't as mighty as it once was.

Denso shell on Amazon or link above, then get your blade cut at Lexus.
Key codes are stamped on the passenger side cylinder lock or obtainable at Lexus through your VIN.
Lexus of Austin charges $12.50 for a cut.

I hate to think what my stealership will charge me for a key cut when I show up with an "aftermarket", online-bought, non-oem which is probably not much different than they sell. It just won't have a Toyota sticker and a bag around it.
