Default Removing running boards and rear mud covers

My neighbor is selling his 04 gx. So I am thinking about picking that up to go off road. Is it hard to remove the rear mud cover in the rear and the running board?

Has anyone ever damaged these parts while off roading? I do fire road off roading.

Very easy to remove with basic hand tools. The boards are plastic over alluminium so they will bend easily on rocks. If you stay on the fire roads, you don't need to modify anything or even lock the center diff. Electronic traction control and decent tread on your tires is all you'll need.
