Gx470 Battery Drain fuse 44
Hello.... Thanks in advance for your help
I own a Lexus 2005 Lexus GX470 with 140k miles.
Day 1 -Battery Dead / Car wont start
-Bought a new battery and installed it (never checked the old battery, just bought a new one since it was old)
Day 2 -Next morning the new battery was dead
-Put jumper cables on the car and drove it around for 1 hour. Battery tester said fully charged. (alternator works)
Day 3 -Next morning battery was dead again
(Took car to mechanic)
-Mechanic had the Lexus for 4 days and finally found the problem.
Problem: Fuse 44 (radio no.2 car audio system, navigation system)
When this fuse was pulled the battery held its charge overnight and started up just fine.
I have not put fuse 44 back into the box....My car now starts and drives great but I dont have a working radio, navigation, rear camera, cant control A/C or heater... who knows what else the LCD radio controls.
What should I do?
Take it to the Lexus dealership and pay a fortune so they can diagnose it?
Thanks again for your help....

Start eliminating things in that area by unplugging them one by one. So I'd start by removing the radio, then proceed from there.
If you have a clamp-on ammeter wait 15 minutes after closing the door before checking the reading to allow the body computer to go into an idle state.

I have the same issue with my 2004 GX 470. It has 216k miles. I pulled fuse 44 and the battery drain has stopped as well.

It's likely to be different for everyone. There's no option but to follow the procedure of unplugging things one by one to see which one is causing the drain.
This video may help.

Yes, the radio had gone out, it was draining the battery. The problem with pulling fuse 44 is that this also controls the AC. I pulled the radio out and disconnected the wires to the radio then I put fuse 44 back and it works fine now. I don't use the radio and it's a work truck so I don't need that but you could replace the radio I guess...
Warning though... Its an old car so the clips that hold all the parts together on the dash, they're getting crispy and one or two just crumbled when I pulled the AC covers out in order to get to the radio. so be gentle or plan to manage that when you put the dash back on....

This video might have a possible work around solution, by switching the radio constant power to accessory power instead.
You might lose some setting, but still able to use the a/c control since the display unit only has power when the car is running.
