Default Lexus GX 470 Warning lights VSC OFF, VSCTRAC Check engine

I noticed the warning lights come up this morning. I googled and found this forum and the suggestions have really given me some comfort and peace knowing that the problems can easily be resolved. Thanks to all those who have contributed. I appreciate.
I intend to take the following steps
1. check gas cap
2. Do a diagnostic check to correct the error codes
3. if the above does not work then we might need to check the O2 sensors.
Today is Sunday so i have to wait till tomorrow to get these done

Many emissions related errors will cause everything to light up (if your car is so equipped). A common failure with the 4.7 drivetrain is the air injection pump and the two corresponding valves. It is fairly expensive to fix, but a bypass system is available for about $150 USD. If you see codes such as P0411, P0412, P1441, or P1442, that may very well be your problem.

I had same problem last year, replace the gas cap, still doing it at random and then I found the article at 4runner forum (have the same problem ), it was the brake pedal switch. order new OEM from sewell and never lights up anymore

F*** me

I'm here waiting at the dealership service lobby for diagnosing these exact same lights (VSC OFF, VSC TRAC, Check Engine, anti skid). My dealer is charging me $115 for just diagnosing.

I was insisting that just a fuse may have gone out because another fuse did go out few weeks ago and had it replaced here.

$115 vs free at Advance Auto parts, O'rielys, etc

F*** me.

hey 608 Prado, where do I get this bypass kit from? I replaced the fuel cap already from napa. Should I get a factory one? Since these 4 codes come back on every 900 miles or so I was just wondering if it could be the cap. Also, is this something that could be potentially harmful to the engine? I'm planning o a trip from Atlanta to Savannah in April breaking down would not be fun. thanks guys. cptjack1

I'm pretty sure I got it from Hewitt Tech:

The codes haven't come back. Just make sure your issue is the air pump or the related valves. The install wasn't bad at all.

Same thing happened to me, but it ended up being a faulty purge valve. So far so good!

thanks prado, I think I will try a factory cap first. it only seems to do this only when its cold outside. I also think I should try to find someone who can check out each item. the p1442 code on my reader says manufacturer controlled emissions control. i'm pretty sure this is a generic code, so a factory cap should be first. thanks, cptjack1

I really appreciate all your replies, and I really should have posted my problem in one post. maybe this will clear up some other questions. I have a 07 GX470 with 125k on it. when it is pretty cold outside ( cold in ga is 25 ) the 4 lights, vsc, vdc, trac off and check engine light come on. The code is p1442. I clear it out and it stays out for about 900 miles or I suppose when we get a cold spell. I replaced the fuel cap with a napa one. Should I buy a factory one or wait to see when the code comes back? the last time I cleared the code it had only one occurrence as opposed to two the previous time. I truly hope some of you can give me some guidance. all the last ones were very helpful. Thanks in advance. Have a great evening. cptjack

I forgot, the p1442 code says Manufacturer controlled auxiliary emissions control. I realize this is a generic term, but hopefully someone else has had it and found a fix. thanks again.

Your dealer will actually tell you whats wrong. AutoZone etc will just read the code. You have to then figure out what to do next. I would try Toyota if you like. Same service cheaper price. Well kinda.

Just test drove a GX470. While driving the lights as above came on. Went to service. It was a Catalytic converter Deficiency. They said it was because the car has been sitting and it's cold. Yeah right.

my vdc check engine lights came on again. I put a new dealer fuel cap and cleared out the p1442 code. if it comes on again I think I will buy the bypass kit and install it. can anyone who has done this give me the part number and vendor name? since each time the code comes on, its only 1 occurrence. anyone think I should try O2 sensors or the bypass kit. this is a really annoying code. all help will be greatly appreciated. cptjack1
