Not to take an accusatory tone here...because I don't know the owner of said car...but it blows me away how many people don't clean their wheels, and I mean at all - like ever. The dealer wash doesn't do much for them either, at least here at the ABQ dealer.

Like others have mentioned, the problem was with the casting not the finish. I've kept mine clean at all times and went through 2 refinishes before giving up and buying chrome Sequoia wheels that eventually pitted as well. My next set will be machined finished not painted or chromed. My wife has an 02 Envoy with polished wheels and they are mint, nothing to flake or peel.

Starting to have the same issue with mine-pitting/bubbling on the rims. Minis is still under CPO (35k miles)but I doubt they will cover it.Having 4 new tires put on this week and will use the spare rum for worst one but still would like to touch up the others.
What is the touch up color "hyper sliver" ? Is there a number for it ?
thanks

I doubt there's a touch up paint for wheels that Toyota sells.

You can check out Wurth paint, it's a match for silver BBS wheels. My GX came with chrome wheels so I don't know what the silver finish looks like on our wheels. The Wurth might be too metallic.

No touch up, but here's a good alternative:

This problem made me so nuts I just bought FJ cruiser wheels which I think look really good.

I tried to get dealer to cover refinish under CPO using other forum users' paperwork where they had it done under CPO warranty.....to no avail. I was told it was a "case by case good will" issue. (I did not get goodwill but still love the dealer, great people/service)

We have VERY salty roads from December until end of April and my wheels were awful. I got a flat once and just threw the spare on and left it. It had been riding underneath for 3 years and had almost no paint left on it!

Got new tires and FJ wheels and now, in spite of 88K miles truck runs and looks great (in spite of crappy pic). Saved my rims, local rim refinisher wants $200/piece to redo the OEM rims. I doubt I will have truck by the time the FJs corrode.....

My wheels looked awful so sanded the bad spots and used aluminum color plastidip to fix. I posted pics on a thread here. They look like new now- just another option as a cheap fix.
