Wind Noise

Wind Noise
I made my first round trip from Vegas to LA over the weekend in our 06 GX470and had to endure this obnoxious wind noise that seems to be coming from both driver and passenger windows. Is this normal for a Lexus SUV? I normally drive my LS460L which is dead silent so I'm not sure if I'm just spoiled. I used to have a big SUV (Armada) but never noticed the wind noise because of the engine and road noise.

This type of noise doesn't bother me so long as it's not obnoxious, but what's ob to you may not be ob to me. Given that you are also an LS owner, a car known for its supreme silence, you are likely more sensitive to this stuff than I.
I have not ever noticed any obnoxious wind noise in my GX and I just returned from a long weekend trip to Canada and back.

Do you have cross rails on the roof rack. They need to be in a specific position, to minimize wind noise. I almost never ride with the sun shade open on the sun roof. That is a couple db's. I have an 08 with 60k miles. I very rarely turn on my radio, because I like how quiet it is.
I routinely put my fingers in the top "V" weatherstripping around the door, to open it up and use vinyl dressing (sometimes Armoral) on all of the weatherstripping. Top, bottom, sides, on all (5) doors. Don't forget to open the rear two opening side windows, to do that weather stipping.
Sometimes I use the thicker stuff and leave it on there. Be carefull not to get it on your good clothes, getting in and out.
I will notice wind noise at 80 mph, GX has aerodynamics of a large brick at that speed, or if it is pretty gusty. I always blip, the up buttons of the power windows, on all 4 windows. Sometimes getting in an out with the car running, I might accidentially hit the power window button.
