DDM HID or HIDeXtra HID
I see that HIDeXtra is having a Cyber Monday sale today for 50% off which is now $30 a kit, and DDM is always $30. I was wondering which one would be better for Low and Fog? I see that DDM is Lifetime Warranty and HIDeXtra is only one year. Thanks

Most folks on here are going to suggest you go to Steve at XenonDepot for your HID lighting. It is a great product backed by great service. I can't comment on the other companies, but I know some other posters have tried other companies and had less than desirable outcomes (reliability issues).

Look... you drive a Lexus. I understand we are still in a recession and money is tight... so best advice is stick with OEM as there's nothing wrong with it instead of dumping even a penny into junk lighting systems.
Xenondepot's kit or stay stock. Best advice any one of us can give.

Some info I found while research DDM vs VOLT vs Xtreme;
DDM is a Chinese made kit and uses Chinese parts.
Volt is made in Taiwan with Japanese parts.
Xtreme is made in Japan with Japanese parts.
General consensus seems to be DDM < Volt < Xtreme. The biggest problem w/ the DDM is they require a few more amps to fire at startup, which can lead to failure to start. The Volt/Xtreme kits seems to require less startup amps and start more reliably. DDM has a lifetime warranty but the turn around time is very slow, it's much quicker to buy another $15 replacement ballast. On the plus size, DDM does offer a 55W option which should have the highest light output.

ROK: All XenonDepot HID kits are back in stock! All backorders have been filled and shipped out =)
z0lt3c: To clarify: Xtreme and Volt HID kits are assembled in Taiwan. The Xtreme kit does use German made components though. Any merchant that claims that their kit is made in Japan (JDM) is most likely being dishonest at this point.
DDM's "55W" HID kits use 35W bulbs meaning that they are overdriving 35W HID bulbs. These bulbs will burn hotter (can damage your vehicle) and burn out significantly quicker.

Hi,
There are 3 main differences between the 2 XenonDepot HID kits:
1) The Xtreme HID kit will come with a relay harness that will power the ballasts directly from the battery whereas the Volt kit relies on the OEM headlight wiring to power the ballasts. The Xtreme harness will ensure that the ballasts always receive a constant 12V as power is being drawn directly from the battery. This harness is optional so if you choose not to use the harness you can do so.
2) The Xtreme ballasts will be superior to the Volt ballasts as they use a German processing chip that allows the ballasts to monitor the bulb power requirements on a real time basis. This will extend both bulb and ballast
life.
3) The Xtreme kit comes with a 3 year warranty whereas the Volt kit comes with a 2 year warranty.
Hope this helps,
Steve
