GX 470 Stereo Upgrade Options, Non-NAV
So I just bought a 2005 GX470 and it has the stock system in it without NAV and without the MLevinson upgrade. The system needs an upgrade so was wondering what people have done as far as replacing the system or suggestions:
1. If you put in a double DIN head unit with DVD or NAV what trim ring did you use to keep it looking clean and stock?
2. Did you use existing speakers or replace them? If so did you have to install a new amp to power them?
3. What would anyone do differently next time? Thanks for any suggestions and great to be a part of the forums.

you might want to send a pm to the seller, he mentioned he replaced his oem system with a Clarion navigation system.

The issue I've seen with most dash kits that are generally available, besides outrageous price, is that most are flat black colored, and the US GX470s all had more grey colored plastic trim. I haven't seen an option yet that matches the trim and looks proper.

True the trim kit that I ordered from Beat Sonic was a perfect fit (although a big large opening for the Pioneer DVD unit I chose) and the color was flat black. I took the entire piece to my local body shop and had them custom match the paint. I paid about $150 for the paint job on this single piece but I must say it is an identical match and very impressed right down to the satin finish. Its not the cheapest solution but it does look the best Here are some picts.

What head unit did you choose and why? I am considering this upgrade myself. Did you do the install? How long did it take and where did you find the instructions? Thx

Can someone please send me a pic of the wiring harness of a non-nav gx behind climate controls? I have a stock nav and want to add aftermarket, but the plugs don't match on the climate controls.

Can someone tell me if its possible to remove factory Nav and install aftermarket head unit? If I have a non Nav bezel with climate controls, can that be converted over?

Stupid question, I'll do so more searching but I'm looking at 07 GX470 without Nav and I'm wondering would the radio from a Prado fit into the same spot as the GX's?
