OK KIDS..........interesting new problem :-/
my nav system in my 06 has started acting all goofy on me.
a few weeks ago while heading down to LBI i looked at the screen and it said i was driving in the ocean. i shook my head and went to our house which i've been to hundreds of times so it wasn't like i needed it. the next day it figured out where it was (meaning it actually knew its location and it showed on the screen). i forgot to mention that the nav thought i was somewhere off the coast of massachusetts around cape cod
fast forward to now.....no hiccups up until today......i went out for a few and everything was fine with the nav but i just went to drop my kids off and it was claiming i was a few miles north west of my actual location.
is there anyway to reset and recalibrate it? i have seen the recalibrate option but i have messed around with it yet...just wondering if anyone else has run into this problem?
i personally feel that the nav unit in my gx is useless and rely on my garmin but still......i''d like it to at least show my actual location.
very disappointing................
i just used the "search" button but i still haven't really found and answer.

Current Position calibration:
MENU, then SETUP
Select "Adjust" on Calibration line then "Position/Direction"
Move cursor to where you should be, then "Enter" button.
Hopefully that will work!

if you update you'll get the maps current up until the time the DVDs were released which i think was sometime last year or the year before(i may be wrong).
save your money and use your iphone. i can guarantee you it'll be more reliable.
the main reason why i posted about this is because i was curious to see if this has happened to anyone else here...also it drove me insane that the OEM NAV and my garmin didn't match up.......the lex nav wasn't even close.

don't waste your money on the update. i bought a garmin many years ago and i have lifetime upodates for it. i also have an android phone which has GPS. both my garmin and my thunderbolt are 100X better than the crappy NAV in my GX

Yes, this has happened to me, too, occassionally. I was driving last year to Madison WI via 94 and the nav on my 2006 said I was in Lake Michigan. Now, sometimes I find myself disorientated, but, really! I did not recalibrate, and it eventually sorted itself out. Its only happened a very small number of times, and briefly so. I am also thinking about the Nav update, but at some $400+, not so sure. I do enjoy the convenience of the Nav just built-in, rather than stuck to the windshield. The new technology is superior, however.
