Default Dealer Problem!

Hi Guys, I want to say thank you in advance for your help.

I took my 2006 GX470 into the dealership about a month ago for some VSC dummy lights, the truck was running a bit rough esp when braking, and a check engine light. The dealership charged me $640 and cleaned the fuel rail, changed the O2 sensor, and changed a fuse? (I think? Hubby handled the transaction).

A few weeks later, I had by certified Dodge Mechanic Brother change the timing belt, and a few other minor things. When he finished the dummy lights came back, and the car also has a long starting condition (the engine will crank longer than usual before starting up.)

I took the car back to the dealership thinking the original condition (with the dummy lights) came back, so they needed to stand behind their work! I DID NOT mention I had my truck worked on since then! They must have noticed the work, and told my husband (Not so mechanically inclined) that the timing was off, and the codes that are showing now, are different and have to do with the timing belt being off...

My brother stands by his work, says the codes he got had to do with the cam sensor, says the car WOULD NOT start if the timing was off. says this is the easiest timing belt he has ever done...he even said "Dummy Proof" He has done them before, multiple times!

Please help! Please give me some ammunition that I can use to prove the dealership is LYING to me!! I am considering taking a OBD2 diag tool down there to check the darn codes myself!!

THanks so much!!!
Bernie

I don't know if this will help or not but if your saying your VSC (Vehicle Skid Control) light is on then you can turn it off by pressing the VSC button (the only time I've seen it come on is when the vehicle is actually skidding in snow or the VSC is turned off)...if this is the case I'm not sure why the stealership is charging you $640 to do what they did.

I had the my brother do the TB, WP, and full tune up and we didn't have any issues with it.

Your local automotive parts store has the diag tool to get the codes free of charge.

Another thing you might want to do is take it to another stealership and ask them for their opinion.

Good luck!
