Default 03 vs 05 GX470

Looking at two of them with similar miles but 05 is about $10K more. Both are in mint condition. I see no reason to buy 05 over 03. What are the differences between the two? Also GX is AWD correct? Is there anything to look for when looking at these cars?

We were gonna buy an RX but after test driving the GX we changed our mind. TIA

I was in the same dilemma, and I picked an 05 GX. For me, the 05 has updated Navigation with Bluetooth (for my wife) and more HP (for me towing my Jetskis). My 05 GX also has factory warranty within the 4yr/50,000 miles limit. The advantage of an 03 is that you can use 87 octane gas instead of the recommended 91 octane for the 05. I drove the RX and it feels more like a sedan with bigger chassis. You will be happy with the GX than the RX. Good luck with the purchase.

Good decision! There truly is no comparison between the RX and the GX. Every time I get an RX for a loaner it only makes me appreciate my GX that much more.

The VVTI engine w/more horsepower is the most significant difference. If you are not buying CPO, then depending on the manufacturer's date, the 2005 may still have some of the bumper-to-bumber warranty left. In addition, the 2005 will have more of the powertrain warranty remaining which is a huge plus in my book.

You will not be disappointed. Good luck.

Thanks appreciate the help. Warranty is a big plus and bluetooth is a good feature. I guess I'll go with 05+. I heard these are full time 4x4. Basically mean it's AWD? Ability to use 87 gas is tempting on the 03's. We'll see.

full-time 4 wheel drive. I have been using 87 octane in my 2005 since new without any issue or loss in mpg.
