Well, with 4,000 miles on the odometer, it was time to get the boat out of storage. We still had our '97 Expedition when we put the boat in storage last October. The GX handled the 5,000+lbs like a breeze. Much more pulling power than the Expedition. The transmission in the GX is flawless. It knew it was pulling a load and watching the tach, I could see how it was holding the gears nicely. Even when going slightly uphill at around 50 mph, the transmission would downshift so smoothly that you didn't even feel it. The backup camera is awesome for lining up the hitch ball. Luckily, the barn door just clears the hitch and spare tire when the trailer is hitched up. That would have really stunk if I couldn't open the rear door with the trailer attached.

On the 60 mile journey to pick up the boat, I averaged almost 21 mpg with the cruise set at exactly 70.

it's good to hear that the GX can hold its ground. I'm curious as to how it'll do trailoring 20 pigs
