Default Gx 470

Last week I took delivery of my GX 470. When the salesman and I tried to connect my bluetooth phone with the head unit it would not recognize it. When I asked why it would not work he said that Lexus was working with a select few service providers and that they recomend switching to the other service. I thought that bluetooth was a operating system not partial to any particular brand. If this is not collusion than what is.
My phone is a new Treo 650.

This vehicle is not XM ready another sad note for Lexus. Having the ML audio system with commercial laden analog radio is a shame. For those of you that have XM and are currently using an FM modulator I have found a company that can direct link XM into your head unit giving pure digital sound. Here is the address so you can get on the list.

Hopefully it is just the phone settings.

Try these lexus links first to see if you get any information that might help:

You might also be able to find an answer at www.howardforums.com (use the Palm OS forum)

How do you know it is not XM ready? Did the dealer say something?

Let me know if you resolve the Bluetooth issue w/ your Treo 650. My 05 arrives shortly and that is the phone that I would purchase next. I deinstalled my LG 4400 car kit yesterday and the shop mentioned that they they have had problems w/ the B.T. on Lexus. He mentioned a Bluetooth kit that resolves the issue and is adaptable with all B.T. phones. Is he just selling me or have others had success with this option? I would hate to purchase a $200 kit when I just purchsed a new GX that supposedly is B.T. compatible.

We have to put pressure on Lexus to resolve the bluetooth.

Default Here are your answers

Guys - It's probably not a fault of the GX but rather of the TREO. If I recall correctly from the Acura BT section, the TREO unit does not properly support the Bluetooth "headset" feature set. Your short coming may not be in the phone. I'll try a search later but you can go to acura-tl DOT com and try a search on

BIG thread, have not read thoroughly but end result looks like it's in TREO 600's-series units...

I also have heard that there are a lot of questions by users with the treo650 and bluetooth generally, so it probably isn't solely a lexus issue. Given my plan to get a 2005 GX, I started looking to see about getting a new phone (I currently use a smartphone without bluetooth). I think I will wait a while.

A couple things I had come across:

Thumbs up My Bluetooth works fine! (SE T610)

I have no problem at all using bluetooth functionalities on my 2005 GX. The problem could be with the Trio.
I'm using Sony-Ericsson T610

I haven't taken delivery of my GX yet to know if it works. The car shop where I deinstalled my car kit mentioned that they had problems w/ several B.T phones on Lexus vehicles, not just the Treo. I do want to purchase the Treo 650, but my wife will be driving the vehicle more frequently. We have Verizon as a carrier- any recommendations for a Verizon, blue tooth compatible phone?

Yep, one choice... Motorola V710. They had problems getting the camera feature to work correctly so if you do get one, make certain you get a new one. But... Can't provide ANY assurance that it will actually work with the Lexus system

FYI (The troubles with it on the Acura TL):
I have Verizon service and am looking for a Verizon phone that is compatible with my TL's HFL.
I called tech support at Hands Free Link today and they claim the Verizion Motorola V710 (version 8700_01.3E.S2) but only this recently released software version will will pair properly with the TL's HFL.
I visited the local Verizon store today to buy one of the upgrade phones and they never heard of the software version. Called the company, tech support and nobody has the faintest idea where to get the software upgrade. Called back to Hands Free link and they claim the the new version is out there somewhere...Where the frick is it???? If anybody gets any info on the upgrade, please post.
