Default New GS owner from Tampa, FL.

Hello CL.

New owner of a black 06 GS430.
Car is in great shape and only has a bit over 75k miles.

Haven't done any upgrades yet but it was already lowered on Tanabe NF210 and it was sitting on some nice black 20's versante wheels.

I'm doing some basic maintenance this weekend. All around new rotors and brakes. Will look into fender shaving since it rubs a bit when turning most of the time. Probably will look into a camber kit if needed. I'm still searching what the best option is.

Will definitely do some music. I just found out the 06 comes with Gen4 navi. I also learned that I would have to somehow swap it with a Gen5 navi in order to connect my android phone via iVIC-DR. I have searched and found someone here got it done but they don't recall the wiring for a certain plug.

My cousin introduced me to the Lexus world. He has the same model/year just in silver. We'll do a nice photo shoot soon and show you some better pics.

Hope to be a part of the lexus community and looking forward to interacting with some of you!

Thanks for looking.

So just changed brakes and rotors all around. It was pretty straight forward minues 2 small issues. One of the front wheel stud completely broke off in the lug nut while trying to remove it. Second issue is one of the long bolts ( not the pin ) that attaches the rear caliper to the hub was seized and was completely broken off. My cousin had the exact same issue on his GS ( We did his rear brakes last week ), so luckily we know how to take care of the issue. We have to remove the broken stud from the bracket and just purchase a new bolt from either toyota or Advance.

Even tho these issues the car is now super smooth when braking. Feels the way it should now!.

It was hard to find. I went to look at 3 that same day and the other 2 weren't in as good as shape as this one and they were asking pretty much a similar price with higher mileage. Reason give was that this is a popular hard to find model.

Thank you very much! I got a bit of cash from the insurance as I was rear ended and my dear accord I had for 10yrs was considered a total loss. Out of pocket for this right here was 12k.

Thank you! Right now it is just as I bought it. I do like the combination and those pics up there are the one from when it was listed for sale lol. It actually looks a lot better in person. I will probably keep this theme until more funds become available.

The broken stud is most like;y from the PO over-tightening the lug nut. The seized caliper pins seem to be pretty common. Supposedly the grease dries out and causes this issue. The dealerships just seem to want to replace the whole caliper. What was your exact fix for the issue?

Haven't fixed mine yet. I will go tomorrow as the shop I go to is closed today.

With my cousin ( had the same issue last week ) the tech removed the caliper and took out the piece of the stud that was able to slide out. the other part that actually broke in it he removed with a special tool then threaded the opening. We purchased a new long stud from the auto part store. That fixed the issue. My mechanic did say to lube that bolt every-time we work on the rear brakes so it so it won't happen again.

I wonder what kind of special tool he used? Maybe he put some heat to it then banged the pin out.

I didn't see the exact procedure because we went out to pick up the new stud at the store as he was removing the broken one. He did have a torch handy so your theory is very likely the be correct. I will see what he does the second time around and give you a more accurate answer.
