tranny issues code: p0751 stuck selenoid
Hey club lexus members. Before I get into detail, yes I have searched. I get alot of answers like get a new or used tranny or service by drain and fill. So here is my story. I bought the car with 117k and never since my possesion bothered to service it. Why? I kept putting it off well at 165k I said heck ill do it. Currently at 170k my gear wont shift past third and its reoccuring almost daily. When I first bought it it was intermittent. I think the late service messed it up. heres the thing, aamco will open up my pan and look at my selenoids which is 250ish. My question is if anyone had this issue and did it turn out to be your selenoid? Was it a waste of money? Tell me your story and help a club lexus member out. Thanks in advance.

I had P0751 and yes i got it the solenoid replaced, I had a slightly different issue to yours, as mine was mainly the torque convertor playing up. However, I've learnt that intermittent = electrical (normally)
and electrical = solenoids, so its a good bet that it is, the solenoid "A" is only available from Lexus / Toyota dealership, it costed about £270. You need to make a decision on whether you want to buy it outright and just get AMCO to fit it in for you without opening the pan twice and paying twice.

I had 2 codes p2757 and p0751, so I replaced both solenoids. It wasn't actually the issue of the torque convertor. You don't have the P2757 issue, so I wouldn't replace the lock up solenoid, I would just replace Solenoid "A" and see what happens

I see thanks for your response. It helps a bit. Yea I dont have the p2757 code. Ill take your advice and replace the selenoid A for sure and also see what the mechanics diag results are.

I was just about to refer to the ECU like ta1972 said, I remember skimming through a thread (maybe it was yours ta1972) about someone replacing a whole transmission and it turned out to be the ECU.

Too bad you're not down here. This one would be a good one to diag. When I get to work tomorrow Ill look up the code on TIS and see if I cant help you out. More than likely its the solenoid. Lexus is pretty good at pointing out the problem. I had one a few weeks ago that had an intermittent bad solenoid.
