100K miles 07 GS350
Well, I've heard/read countless threads and posts, and everyone seems to be divided on the subject of replacing transmission fluid, and differential oil at the 100K service. I don't go to the dealership because of their insane pricing. so I really want to know what I should tell the mechanic I go to. thanks again for the input everyone, also sorry if it sounds like a noob question

toyota charges $180 for drain and flush and $260 for the BG flush and replace with 10 quarts here in CALI. i would take it to toyota if you don't want to use the lexus dealership.

I would just let a toyota or lexus dealer do it...the last thing you want is contamination of another type of fluid in a 100k transmission.
Just play it safe...its not that expensive and it might save you from solenoid issues that seem to occur on old fluid.

I get my fluid replaced every few years regardless of the low mileage I do, it only costs $80 to do it at an independent shop with toyota/lexus trained guys. I'm not sure why anybody would even question avoiding doing it considering it is so cheap to do and only needs to be done occasionally.
I will post it again, like always, in contrast to Lexus USA - Lexus Canada official service schedule for these transmission states to replace the fluid every 96,000 km (60,000 miles). Why here it is a replace item and there it is a "lasts forever" item is anybody's guess considering they are the same cars made in the same factory.
I also do the differentials every few years regardless of mileage, I get charged $30 for the front and $70 for the rear... difference being the rear needs full synthetic fluid and the front doesn't. So a hundred bucks every 3 years, no big deal just do it.
I don't recommend doing any kind of flush, just do drain and fill and do it more often... you get less out per go, but it will be safer just to do the job twice over a given period of time.
