did you check toyota for the OEM part. you can still buy it and have lexus install if you don't want to pull it out from there.

I bought the rebuild son.

Burny, I think you may be confused, I bought part# 27370 - brushes/holder assembly from Sewell for alternator.

yes sir I understood that. But I also rebuild my starters and see this particular starter does not have the brushes. Do you rebuild your starters too?

No I don't are starters a weak link on our cars? I use to always rebuild the starter in my last two camrys and my wife's old es300.

Let me ask around about rebuilding the 350 starter.

I am hearing the bearing is what is failing on these alternators. Sewells has the bearing for like $12 so I guess I'll do the bearing and the contacts. There is a youtube video on how to replace the bearing.

Sewell lists one Bearing at 9006810033 which has new number 90099-10223. This is the front larger bearing. They do not show the rotor bearing in the back of unit as some other vehicles do. Does anyone know the part number for that one or even the dimensions? If you look at 9099-10140(rotor bearing for GX470), this is the bearing I need for the GS350 but don't have the correct part # for a GS350 and it is not on the site.

Default Just changed my alternator in my 2007 Lexus GS350

I had been smelling a faint burning smell. Had the car checked and nothing was found. 2 days later my battery light came on and the car died on me on the freeway. I had it towed to an independent shop that specializes in Lexus cars. They replaced the alternator and the serpentine belt and I paid $800. The Lexus dealership wanted $1500. The only problem I had afterwards was that it shorted my navigation system. They changed a fuse and all seems ok with the exception that the volume on the radio will iintermittenly go off for a few minutes and then turn back on.

I am planning to rebuild mine in next month or so. Ordered the front cover plate from Sewells with the bearing already pressed in for $18. Already had the brush ring.

i had mine replace at the dealer only because i bought a warranty(not through dealer) with my 07 GS350. went out at about 80k. was about $1100 from the stealership. only paid $100 deductible. i was hoping it was the battery so i towed car to dealer, was alt. so i remembered i bought a warrant and it was covered. if not i would have had my friend swap it out since i needed the car ASAP for work. this was in november.

at least they washed and gave me a full tank of gas. an $80 value.

27310-31220 is the front cover assembly with bearing already pressed into it. Also get end cap 27416-0W010 as the old one will be destroyed when you use a pick to yank it out. $3.98 part
