Default Help! New brakes time!

So ive finally got to the point where i need to stand on the brakes almost to just stay stopped at a light. let off that hard pressure just a bit and the car starts moving. annoying as hell but im thinkin of going more than pads this time

What rotors and calipers do you guys have that are reliable as hell but not a bank breaker. I had brembos on my last car and they were awesome but this car doesnt weigh anywhere near what my magnum srt 8 weighed so no need to blow 5 grand on this car.

also gonna need to buy some caliper paint somewhere too...

Brembo blanks, adams rotors, I have Rotora's, they also have R1 concepts, lots of love for all these brands from various members.

For caliper paint, search "G2 brush on caliper paint".

Just did Adam's slotted rotors (don't know if it makes a difference black zinc rotor coating and black painted hub) and the Posi quiet pads. So far very little dust and no noise.

If you go with this or any setup make sure to silicone moving parts, brake noise reducer gel and break them in right

Good luck!

Did you check your brake fluid reservoir? Might be low or water or air in your lines. Sounds like a brake flush may be in order.

Don't our cars (GS 350) have a 'warning' system alerting when the pads need replacement?

Don't think so..... If it did, you will have to replace that unit everytime you do a brake job.... Trust me, you don't want that headache

Yup. My 07 328 coupe had that sensor. Just an added cost to a routine maintenance.

yeah I was thinking about doing a brake flush but its about that time where i needed to get new tires... so then the thought of getting new wheels came up, then new rotors and pads, and the scheme just spiraled out of control.

But for now Im thinking as a stop gap I might just get the flush done. But im still very much on the verge of spending all that time and loot on the wheels

lolz. this sound just like me. from needing the break pads till now. I end up getting full set of 20", and wheels lead to coilover and coilover and now with wheels and coilover. now i'm thinking about pastsi dip my whole car... so far dump over 3k on it already ...

getting stuffs for the car is like getting your tat done. once you get one you will want another, smh.

anyways back to the topic, I think the Akebono Break pads are ok. I change the pads didn't even need to change my rotor and its fine.

Sure, the old fashioned one when the pads get real low you start scraping against the piece of metal in the pads making that annoying squealing sound that it seems 1 out of every 4 cars on the road makes every time they stop.

i had my brakes done at the lexus dealer. pads and rotors. squeaks everyday. they said the warranty doesn't cover squeaks. i told the advisor and she said thats the problem with these cars… they squeak. she told me be worried when it stops squeaking, maybe this is their warning system. they installed the warning system backwards...
