Engine Oil Change Question
i am getting ready to do my 60k service. Purchase the parts from Sewell and getting ready to buy the engine oil locally. Since I wasn't sure which oil to purchase I checked the service records.
I bought the car in April 2012 as a CPO. The dealer used Pennzoil Synthetic
I took it back to the same dealer in Oct 2012 to get my 1st free oil change and in reviewing the service receipt they used Pennzoil Regular, but I don't know which oil weight.
I've read that once you use Synthetic you shouldn't go back to regular oil. Unfortunately I didn't pay attention to this when I had the oil change back in Oct. So now that I need to change the oil can I use Pennzoil regular and if yes, which weight, or should I use Pennzoil Synthetic.
Thanks

Go back to synthetic - and stick to it. One cycle of regular oil won't hurt. I've used synthetic only in all my vehicles since '77. My '09 has 5W30 on the oil cap, would think yours does as well - but check your owner's manual.
I'm partial to Amsoil, and use it almost exclusively. RedLine is another top synthetic. Valvoline is a good one.
Mobil One has gone downhill and don't recommend it. I think Pennzoil is a mid-grade synthetic, and probably ok.
In a Lexus, you should get 250k to 300k miles with no internal engine problems if you change every 5k.

when i had my 2005 Honda Accord V6, i been running Mobil 1 Syn all the way... up until my friend told me if i am changing it every 3000 miles no point to waste money and use dino oil instead since it cleans better than syn. so ever since then i been using dino oil i feel the car running much stronger and smoother. He also told me to stay away from pennzoil since it got so much wax in it and its bad for the engine
