Removing Blower assy
Hi all
Hope you can help a fellow Lexus GS300 from the uk
I have found out that my fresh/air flap as broken as the lever with the broken peice is in the passanger side . I took the car to my local Lexus Dealer who said " Dash out and a new Heater Blower Assy approx £1200 " gulp says I he then came back and said " we can get a repair kit £25 but will still need dash out" im sure ive read on here that you can get out the blower Assy out with out having to remove the dash.
The parts are just a mirror image of your Left hand drive vehs
I would appreciate any advice you can give regarding its removal as i dont want to go the "bodge route" i e glueing it on
thanks all
Robert

Hi all
Thanks for you comments its always nice to be in a forum were people help each other
The lexus cars although there is a lot here they are not as prolific as over there in your country.
So it looks like ill have to bite the bullet and let the dealer sort it I have developed a bit of a creak from the dash so i will let them do that at same time. But the tech who looked at it said he might be able to get it out without taking the dash but cant promise if he does its a bonus. The figure of £1200 included the blower assy at £550 but the repair kit consisted of the air door and lever at £25 so if he does get it out it will be half price maybe £500 but i have asked him to contact Lexus UK if they can give me a discount on the creaking dash as it is a known problem one can only hope.
Once again thanks for the comments

I feel your pain.
Look my threads... I fixed this issue by taking the broken part of the lever and screwing it in where its supposed to. Works well a year later and I didn't have to take the whole dash out.
Of the part broken is the same as mine, you can get it fixed without taking out the whole unit.
Pm me if you don't find it.

Hi All
Great news
Well if you can call it great
Dealer rang and said "the repair kit is in for your car Mr Cave" said if i brought it in tues 10 30 we will do it
When i got there the service manager showed me the the box with the parts consisted of:-
1 door
1 Lever
1 Long Bar
and a quantity of foam Tape
He went onto say they have never fitted one of these as when the cost was quoted to customers most said sod it not paying that(£1200) as dash as to come out approx 1500 dollars i suspect
But said according to there research it can be fitted in SITU so shouldnt be a expensive job (I had 500 pound in my wallet)
I sat and read the paper he came over about an hour and a quarter later and said "all done Mr Cave its just being washed" right the cost you ask well he said they followed the instructions in the kit
22.50 for the kit
50 to fit it
total cost
£72 50 maybe $100 i think
what a pleasant suprise i said are you sure he said yes quite sure
I asked if they took blower out said he wasnt sure but suspected no as kit is designed to be a repair kit took less than an hour to do
and that is for a LEXUS DealerShip at Sheffield in the north of England
car is working flawlessly
Result!!!!!
