Stoptech Kryotreated Cross-Drilled Rotors
I've posted previously regarding brakes and rotors on my 06 GS430. Having problems with "choppiness" when braking as it's not consistent. Existing rotors (all 4) are centric with the OEM Lexus pads that have only been on the car about 12,000 miles. My previous rotors in the rear only last a few years. What's confusing is I'm not hard on brakes.
Visited a local shop today and explained to them my problem and that I am trying to keep OEM parts as much as possible but with increased performance. Their recommendation...Stoptech Kryotreated cross-drilled rotors with the OEM Lexus pads. Apparently, the cross-drilled rotors will not warp or rust as the Kryotreated process in the metal (heating and cooling) prevents this and the braking performance will improve. Several people have told me not to go with the slotted rotors as they will be noisy.
Curious if anyone has used these rotors, or are familiar with the cross-drilled rotors and if I can expect improved braking performance. Parts are about $650 w/labor only $130. Thanks

I did install the cryo treated rotors and so far I like it a lot. I've only had it for about 3 months though so wont be able to give you a long term feedback.

Braking performance will not improve at all (no more than a new set of OEM rotors and pads). If they told you this, go somewhere else - they are selling you a bill of goods. Try to get in writing they will fully replace any rotor that rusts or warps at no cost for the life of the rotor. Drilled rotors, can be noisy as well.
If you want to get better braking performance get better tires and a more aggressive pad compound. There are trade offs with all of these things (dust, faster tire wear with softer compound, etc)

So two differing opinions...I see your point and that's what I was afraid of. Good suggestion regarding asking about the lifetime warranty so I will ask. I run the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus tires, so one of the best out there, and don't really want to go with a more aggressive tire, since I will have to sacrifice mileage.
What is your definition of a "more aggressive pad compound"? Thanks

Don't think the opinions differ. Braking performance when using good rotors might not improve and brake pads with better pad compound will help you more. The cryo treating helps make the rotors last longer though. Hawk unfortunately does not make the HPS for the 430 so I had to use red stuff pads so far am happy with it. As far as rust issue is concerned, I've seen oxidation on the rotors after they have been sitting for awhile after it rains. So don't know how they can claim they don't rust.
