Default Re. Outside Air/Recirculation air selector

Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2006 Lexus GS300 and when I select the "Outside air" button and the system switches from Recirculation to Outside air I hear a constant clicking sound and it wont stop, so I just switch back to Recirculation. It sounds like there is an actuator that is getting stuck or something. Does anyone know what this could be and how I can open it up and fix it?

Thanks

yep... common problem induced by someone who didn't know how to properly change your cabin air filter (and Lexus' poor design/lack of warning sticker that car must be put in re-circulation mode). The fix is a little more than most DIYers want to tackle... Lexus book time is something like 9-10hrs to R&R and basically requires dash removal plus parts

You can find details by searching on cabin filter replacement thread in the DIY sticky thread at top of forum.

Congrats on your new to you GS and welcome to CL
