XM in 2008 GS350
Part of the deal for my used 08 was to have the dealer install XM radio...
When I got the car back, I did have XM, but I also had the "hockey puck" on my roof...
Is there any reason that the shark fin was not used, I would assume that these cars are all pre-wired for this... It seems like the dealership installed an aftermarket system rather than the factory one...
The questions I have are these...
1. Is there a "factory" system that does not need that dang hockey puck?
2. Is there any functional differences between the two? I know I can not direct access stations, and must use the rotary dial to scroll up and down...
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

yes the dealership went cheap. there is a factory tuner kit, installed in the trunk, and connect to the shark fin antenna connector behind trunk lining
i don't know exactly what you have now, but i remember when installing vaistech or factory sat, you can browse through stations and select?

I'm pretty sure I have the vaistech... I can use the rotary know to scroll, but I can not direct access any stations unless they are programmed via the presets...
Sucks they did this...

One update, I did talk to the Vaistech people, they sell an adapter to connect to the sharkfin for the XM Ant... I got that and will remove the hockypuck...
Thanks!
