06 GS300, bad mutli control display!? :(
Hello everyone,
I have a 2006 GS300 w no nov or DVD in dash and the multi control pt number 86111 has jsut decided to die.. lovely.
it hasnt made its way to the dealership yet, but heres my issues:
just factory warranty, whatever that is.. car is at 59500 miles. Dount this is covered.
Display used to phase back to the Lexus logo and then be fine after restarting the car... now its just toast.. pressing any menu button like CLIMATE or INFO blacks it out, cuts out the power, resets the clock and does nothing afterwards except to go back to the Lexus screen.
Issue is that if its the control panel and screen itself, its 5400 dollars.. no bueno.
Question is, is there known issue that causes this? Can it easily be another part thats bad? Any cheap place to find them used? ANd is there known experience of people taking it to an electrical repair shop to fix rather than shell out the same money as a new engine for this thing? Its ridiculous.
Im in AZ, its 111 degrees and i cant adjsut the AC now.
any help for a new guy n the forum.. thanks a ton..
Sorry if its in the wrong section.. im used to my350z.com... tons of sub forums etc... this appears the right spot.

Dam dude sorry to hear that, its actually a pretty common problem with the 2006 models gs and especially is. You should try to search the threads that were made about it. Last i remember so dude ended up paying 1,500 to fix it at the dealer. But yea if **** hits the fan ebay is ure best bet or local junk yard.
