I have an 07 LS460 that is doing the exact same thing. I took it to the dealer and they said replacement is $1600.00!!!! I was thinking of getting some super glue and trying to stick it back on, but now I am leaning toward complaining to Lexus to see if they will cover it.

Meanwhile, there's plenty of cars out there that have been HAMMERED with clean Carfax reports. We just sold an 09 Challenger SRT8 at Manheim and announced frame.. This thing had been smacked real hard. Clean Carfax tho. Dodge dealer bought it too, I bet it gets sold as a CPO.

Drip molding
I have an 07 LS460 with 72K miles, and I am the second owner. Lexus agreed to split the cost of the moldings, but I have to pay the labor for installation. Total cost to me will be $543.00. Not bad, since I am the second owner and the car is 6 years old with high miles.

My GS is a 2007 with 65k miles and they covered 100% of the replacement for me. Just sayin!

They'll usually always agree to that. I would ask your service guy if he can submit a partial good faith repair to Lexus. I'm sure if you say you will agree to pay (for example) $300, and they'll pick up the rest you can probably save a few more bucks.

I just discover my 2006 gs300 drip molding both right left is peeling off. I took it to Lexus body shop & find out to cost to replace them part alon is $527.07 each. I was given a quote &1171.72 with labor. I was considering getting my third gs300 but this left a bad tes in my mouth. I have never seen pail peeling of like this exposing a silver mold. Could this be a poor design? Will I be successful to ask Lexus to fix it? I took it to two Lexus service places one told me this is not new with GS where as the second said he never seen it before.

Guess I need to revist my dealer again, I was told the clips underneath had black on them so the vehicle the vehicle had been painted or different clips where used ie maybe from a windshield repair.
So glad I found this thread. 38k miles and a clean history had me teeming as a second owner.

Since I posted this problem I noticed even newer Lexus have this problem. I was considering getting 2014 GS350 but I am not sure now. By the way I am going to sell the 2006 GS300 as is with peeled drip line.

Drip molding peeling
Hi JerzeeB. I had an 07 LS460 that did the exact same thing. Regardless of what your dealer told you, this is a common problem. My dealership called Lexus and was able to get them to pay for half of the replacement of the strips, which made my share just under $300. I wasn't satisfied with this, so I called Lexus myself. I was very polite and explained what was happening. The person I spoke with was very nice to me and agreed to pay for the entire thing. Subsequently, I traded it in on a new one and never did have the repair completed. The call to Lexus about this occurred about a year ago and the car had about 70K miles on it at the time.
Obviously, the car has some age on it and they are under no obligation to fix it. However, Lexus seems very customer satisfaction driven, so I wouldn't be surprised if they would help you....after all, they know this is a common defect.
After close inspection it didn't seem to be paint peeling, but rather a sticker like arrangement that was coming unglued. My plan B was to take a toothpick and some crazy glue and try to get it re-stuck.
Good luck! Any more questions, feel free to call me at 941-350-7143.
Jay.
