Default Check this crap out........Battery keeps dying

Over the last 4 weeks, my battery has died twice at work. Every day i would drive to work and go to lunch around noon and return about 1pm. I would then leave for work at 5 and the batter is completely DEAD. THE hazards won't even work. HOW EMBARASSING...RIGHT>!>!>!?. I take the car the my Lexus dealer and they say that they see when the car is off, there is a draw of almose 0.09 amps!! They then check the fuses and determined the fuse MPX-B 10 amp was not seated correctly. So theY removed it and reinstalled the fuse and the draw reduced down to .01 to .04.

They sat the car for 1 hour to check the system and found no issues. The battery is in perfect condition.

Today, I was at a friends house and we went to dinner in their vehicle. 2.5 hours later, DEAD AGAIN...........WTF!!!!!!!

Guess I'd better take it back again. HAS ANYONE HAD ANY SIMILAR EXPERIENCES????

Malfunctioning electronics can cause this. I haven't had this issue on the Lexus but I had it on my previous BMW.

With the BMW the car was out of warranty. One of my friends who had the same issue with his VW told me it can sometimes take them a really long time to figure out what component is causing the draw. The BMW dealer wouldn't give me a quote but said it cost anywhere from half a day to several days of labor to solve it.

In the end what i did was installed a circuit breaker on the battery enabling me to disconnect the battery at a flick of a switch if I was going to leave the car parked for more than 1-2 days. Then I put the car on the market and sold it and bought a Lexus instead.

you don't have any accessories plugged in 24/7?

or maybe the battery really is worn out. 3 years seems a little short, but it's still a possibility, and is the cheapest thing to test.

The only accessory i have plugged in is my Iphone charger. But the weird this is that it happens from time to time. For example, I was in Europe for 10 days, came back and it started right up. Last night I go to dinner for 2.5 hours and its completely dead. I started it up this morning no problems............ No clue whats going on.

The simplest explanation would be a faulty "on-the-blink" sensor. e.g. if the door sensor is faulty then the interior lights may come on and off randomly. That could drain the battery. Key is to figure out what sensors are programmed to go into action and elevate the draw without the ignition being on. My guess is the door and trunk sensors, the remote key sensor, the alarm, the proximity sensor. Maybe others.

No idea how to test it other than watch the car and see if you can see anything switching on and off.

This has happened to me a few times recently. I usually leave my headlights on and let the auto timer turn them off. There has been a few situations where this does not happen and the lights stayed on even after me locking the car with the remote twice.

I leave them in auto now and ensure every time they are turned off.... pita

This is called parasitic drain and can be very time-consuming to diagnose. Basically comes down to connecting an ohm meter in between the battery and ground cable to read the draw. From here, you basically start unplugging things until the draw drops. Process of elimination, really.

Do you have any aftermarket work done? Stereo system? HID fogs?

Some people like to use the features on the car

The auto-off feature seems so simple, sucks that Lexus couldn't get that right. (although i've never had problems with mine)

If you sometimes notice your headlights aren't turning off, I think it might be because your door latches might be getting dry. Give them a good spraying of white lithium grease and they'll start to travel properly and likely will solve the problem.
