Default Can't drive over 10mph, safe mode?

Long story short - my car battery died, CHP comes and gives me a jump start. When I started the car I saw sparks fly. I walk up to the hood and noticed the CHP officer placed the black wire on the positive battery and the red on the negative. I eventually got the battery to work, but now the car doesn’t drive faster than 10mph. Anyone know what is wrong or what to check for?

First thing I would tackle is the battery, have that tested to see if it is still good.

Next I would check all the cars fuses, and most importantly the main fuses or fuse able links. I can almost bet that spark you seen was the fuseable link popping.

I'm glad you didn't go ape-**** on him..... Most people would, I for one am more appreciative that people DO offer to help. Like ibidu said though, definitely check your fuses and see if it's doing okay.

Did your car have any CELs go off?

For the record, next time you should do your own jump. Our car's terminals are flipped backwards compared to the typical car, hence why CHP accidentally did a backwards jump.

GL OP!

If the trooper placed the cables backwards, how did you even start the car? I don't think it's possible. Maybe he shorted the cables as he was disconnecting them and it popped the fuses?

Anyone remember the TV show CHiPs? Those guys would never hook up a battery incorrectly. Let us know what the problem was.

Update - I got my car back from the lexus dealership. It was a blown fuse that connected to a motor that prevented the car from going above 10 mph. Lexus changed the housing to the battery and I replaced the battery since it was still under warrenty. Thanks club lexus!!
