trading for a new gs
I have a 2006 gs300 flint mica grey with black int i am thinking about trading it in for an 08 or 09 gs350 in that pearl white color btw way which is the pearl white that changes colors and is it the opaline or the starfire? is it worth it? i know the 08 or 09 is a little faster with more hp and they come with much nicer looking wheels and the grill is slightly differnt, shark fin on roof, but other than that are there any other differnces? i feel it will be better because my car has 58000 miles and after a couple years even tho i baby it the are a couple dings and scratches so i just want to upgrade to a nice newer looking one plus it will be faster with nicer wheels. please give me some feedback do you think it is worth it? is there anything i need to know? thanks, matt

07-->08 GS350 is mainly minor cosmetic differences. 07 they added the gen 5 nav system and switched to the 305hp motor. Same engine in the 08 but the 08 has the following differences:
- moved the fuel door release off the flip down panel so you don't have to open it and hit your knee getting into the car.
- added chrome trim to the left and right of the front grill with slightly revisions to the lower part of the front and rear bumper caps.
- aux input added
- slightly revised 5 spoke 18" wheel
- slightly revised steering wheel
- added chrome trim around the shifter gate
- stopped using the miserably loud Yokohama Advans and started using Michelin Primacy HPs on the 18" wheels (cured the tire noise issue)
With regards to the sound system. The Mark Levinson system has very weak imaging so IMHO it's no better than the stock sound system. The main reason for getting the ML system is because it's part of the option package that includes other things. Forego it and you lose other stuff like parking sensors I think. Also you lose the ability to play DVD video on the nav screen while parked and the option of using the Prestige Society module to allow DVD video playback while in motion.
I might have missed something but it's been a while since I got rid of my GS.

The navigation system is better from 2007, however you lose the ability to disable the motion lock so you need to buy a datasystems override if you want to have full control of touch screen while driving.
Also newer models have less rattles. The interior trim upgrades that Robert with the nice garage just spoke about came in 2008. I would suggest going with a 2008.

yes the newer ones still have the dvd player but you need to get the ML package for the dvd player. You can get the bypass from Prestigious Society. i have one in my GS. As far as that color goes, like mentioned it was only offer in 06 to 07. you wont find it on any other GS unless you get your car painted that color. Starfire is just pretty much a bright crisp white. The other, im not sure.
