GS350 Oil Change Procedure with Pictures

Just did my RX350 this am. Great tips! The only difference I see:
- I have the square nut that I had to remove to use the plastic sprout (that came with the filter) to drain the oil.
- The plastic cover for the RX to access the oil filter is alot smaller.
- That darn AST filter wrench kept on getting stuck while I was putting the filter assembly back on. After carefully reading the directions again, found out we don't need the wrench. (just need to hand tighten) duhhh...
- I put in 6.5 qt of 5W-30 Mobil 1 oil
Total Cost: $32 for Oil at Costco + ~$5 for filter. = $37.
thanks again, can't believe my local lexus dealers charges $80 for an oil change. Big sticker shock.

Note on AWD version
Just wanted to add that the 2007 AWD GS350 does not have the square-hole filter housing cap, it has a single piece housing with a hex nut shaped into the end of the cap and you can undo the whole thing with a socket.
So you don't use the smaller o-ring, which is for that cap.
Just adding this because I wasted a good 1/2 hour googling this today and did not see a definite description of this for the AWD version.

Thanks again for this DIY tutorial. I changed my oil today and all went well. Wouldn't have tried it without this walk-through being available...so thanks.
just heads up for those who have not done this yet....the oil filter housing contained quite a bit more oil than what I was expecting. So...remove it SLOWLY to allow a controlled drain and to avoid a mess! Of course, have your catch pan ready.

Actually, I had to order the oil drain plug washer ("gasket") separately:
Oil Filters for my 2007 GS350:

10 pack = $36

10 pack = $7.60

take the washer on a flat surface and lightly sand it with 220 grit (if is shows any surface damage); otherwise, you can use the same washer for about 200,000 miles -- just don't over-torque it. I've used them over and over again on every car I've owned and have not ever had a single leak. Occasionally, if someone else changes it and over-tightens it, you can just clean it up on the flat surface like I described and use it again.

So does that mean for my 2008 gs350 awd I don't need to buy the oil filter wrench/adapter to replace the oil filter?

Just bought a 2010 GS350 AWD last week. Want to change all the fluids, etc. and this thread was a tremendous help. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and opinions about stuff.
