Default Just bought gs300 2006 AWD need advice (rims, lowering, lights)

Hi Everyone.

I have just bought a 2006 GS 300 AWD. I want to lower it and buy new rims. I would also like to change the fog and daytime lights to match HID's lights color.
I am a complete ignorant when comes to cars and seeks for your professional advice.

RIMS, lowering
I would like to put 19" or 20" on my car, and lower it a bit , for what
rims size should look ? What tires ? ( I want to save comfort)

LIGHTS
What lights to buy ?

How to install AUX for mp3 player ?

Thanks
I have spent numerous hours looking for a receipt, bit can't find a clear answer what rim size + springs, coilovers would work for AWD.

Thanks

you can do 20s on your car and it will fit fine. as far as lowering goes, its going to be 50/50 for you since you have awd. no one makes an awd lowering setup yet for our cars so you would have to get something for the rwd gs and use them. theres a 50/50 chance you will get vibrations though.

welcome to CL, yes with a lowering AWD you might get some vibration, however I have some Tanabe DF lowering spring on my 07 AWD and it ride just fine and it does eliminate the wheel gap in the front. In turns of lights there isn't too many thing that you could do with the DRL however there are some HID fog light kit that you can get to replace the OEM one that you have know. Hope this will help.

congrats on the ride roju!

if you're looking to maintain comfort, stick with 19" instead of 20, and as far as lowering, the tanabe NF210 springs are geared more towards comfort than the DF210s, although the drop isn't as low. it does, however, look VERY nice & clean... just do a little bit of searching there's tons of info (i'm in the same boat )
for example: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho....php?t=362731&

hope this helps!

EDIT: one more thing; if you go with 19" wheels, don't get wheels with a lip (imho). the lip, from a visual standpoint, makes the wheel appear smaller than what it really is. 19s without a lip can appear to look like 20s in many cases.

hey kyang do you have aftermarket wheels on your AWD? if not, what size wheel/tire setup are you running? I just want to get an idea on how the DFs are working out for you, thanks.

I have the AWD 06 ' GS300 with aftermarket 19's and tanabe springs. To be honest the ride got alot worse after, i personally dont care because the car needs to be dropped bad. But the car with springs and stock shocks get rough on bumps, when you driving normally its fine, but when you hit a bump youll feel it.

Im alot to put the UAS air suspension and 20" varianza work sc1's on the car so well see the ride after that....

congrats apok... now drive down to tanabe so they can look at your car! lol... the only reason AWD suspension options aren't available is because they don't have an AWD GS to look at (this was told to me directly from a tanabe rep). they'll even compensate your time with complimentary parts & stuff

Hey retrospexo
I am running some BBS RS-GT on my GS now. Gonna switch them out in about 2 weeks or so to get ready for the winter time. Which I just run the stock 18inch 5 spokes.

ive been looking for the suspension codes for our cars because if i have enough interest from the AWD people, i may be able to get a setup made for our cars.

There's really no difference in comfort between 19 and 20. There is a difference in how the car handles. My wife's car with 19 is a better handling car than mine with 20's. As for comfort, not much difference, my 20's are better actually. COmfort is more dependant in what springs and tires you buy. We know the Tanabe NF210's provide a stock ride and for tires, you get what you pay for. When I had Michelin PS2, the ride was like being in car heaven. Now I have Bridgestones and it's pretty good but nothing beats PS2's. My wide's car has Nitto Invo and that's why mine rides more comfy. Nitto's are crap.

You asked about aux adapter. Lexus now offers an adapter for mp3. allows for control via touch screen. not compatible with satellite radio if you have that (at least when it was first released, I haven't looked lately. Both vais and scosche also have adapters to integrate with touchscreen. There are threads here with pics on how to pull the nav head.
