Lightbulb 2008 GS 350 Break Pads/Break Dust?

After reading about the break dust fix for the GS. I went to the dealership to get more info. The service rep said the updated pads were already installed on the 08 model year. I am still seeing a lot of break dust on the from rims. Anyone know if the pads on the 08 are in fact the updated pads?

Thanks

Mark J

I went to Newport Beach Lexus. Do you know of any dealers doing it in the Orange County area?

Thanks

It shouldn't be a matter of which dealership. All of them honor that TSIB, just make a call to the service dept and schedule an appointment. it's that simple.

if there wasn't a TSIB for the 08 model, then the dealer might not know about it.

However, my service adviser in Arizona just told me there is one for 2008, i am getting this done on wednesday, i'll try to get more information on it for people here.

I will give it a shot. They said the 08 had the new pads after a certain production date. I am still getting excessive amounts of brake dust.

I think it's much better than my IS....so I'm pretty sure I got the updated pads. btw, anyone make aftermarket pads for the GS? It's still a hassle to have to clean it ever 4 days (vs the IS 2 days of driving)!

Well I expected my pads to be changed at my 1 month inspection today. Called and made an appointment and asked for the TSB to be done. Brought it in and it was noted on the work order. After waiting almost two hours I pick up the car and drive off. It as only later, when I looked at the paperwork that it was printed "NOT OUT FOR 2008 YET"

I probably would have deferred the one month inspection, since they don't do anything and not wasted my time. I had the 06/07 TSB in my pocket, but they never even mentioned it as an issue.

Anyone have the 08 TSIB number?

I followed up with the district manager in Orange County Ca. She said there is no TSIB for the 08. That does not mean there will not be one in the future. My rims get dirty in very short order.

I think as a goodwill gesture, the pads should be changed out. Those dusty pads are terrible as far as maintaining the cleanliness of your GS.

I just love this forum. We have several threads on CL complaining about brake dust from Hi Perf pads. If I went to one of the german cars boards, I'd see only threads complaining about failed trannys, electrical problems or safety recalls. How spoiled are we with our Lexus . . .

I Know I prefer ceramic brake pads.... my Akebono pads were AWESOME and never dusted up any wheel. I will make my 1000mile appointment in about 400miles
