I don't understand why the calipers don't come painted from the factory on a luxury car, rotting iron calipers look like crap.
Since paint is applied with a brush, there is no overspray, therefore no need to remove calipers.

Calipers are painted flat black from factory, this thread discusses painting them a different color/finish and applying Lexus decal and clearcoat, if desired. This is a purely aesthetic mod.

Mine are definitely black. Either powdercoat or a flat paint I think. Hides the dust really well.

See posts #39 - 42 for discussion on this.

Maybe it's just really difficult to tell, mine are more grey/silver/white looking than anything but it could just be age and elements. Looking at them, they don't look rusty but they don't really look black either. They definitely have a rough texture to them all around.

Did anyone sprayed clear coat after painting and applying decals?

I want to paint my calipers too but I don't know what color. What color do you guys recommend for a quartz shadow metallic car with chrome rims. In the bright sun, my car looks like a dark purple, in the shade a dark blue/purple, and at night a dark blue/black. I'm thinking of mixing the paint with two colors to make a unique color and something kind of close to my car: purple, blue, and/or black. Your opinions?

Make identical to your car. G2 can make custom colors for you for $99

IMO, our car looks best with black calipers and white or silver decals (if any) and a clear coat. I think this should be a very subtle detail, not something that pops out of or distracts from the wheel or overall design of the car.

My aim is to make this invisible from a distance and noticeable only when you are looking at details up close.

On a practical note, these things are going to have dust on them most of the time, and a bright or contrasting color will just advertise the fact that they're dirty.

Completely agree! I have the black paint coming and going with Silver Metallic logo which will match my car which is also silver.

Default Your wheels

Do you still have the Red GS300? If so do you know the manufacturer of the 5 spoke wheels you had in the picture with the black painted calipers? I have the same but don't know who made them.
